The new technology of nanocomposite coating, led by Associate Researcher Liu Fuchun from the Materials and Environmental Corrosion Research Center of Shenyang Institute of Metals, Chinese Academy of Sciences, is planned to be widely promoted and applied on various types of aircraft. Previously, this technology has been successfully used on large transport aircraft.
It is reported that due to environmental and other factors, the aircraft skin coating originally coated with imported paint has powdering and peeling phenomena in less than two years, causing local corrosion of the aircraft skin. This not only reduces the safety of the aircraft, but also increases maintenance time, greatly reducing the efficiency of use. Aiming at the typical environment in Sanya, Lhasa, Wanning, Dunhuang, Mohe, Shenyang and other places, the project deeply analyzed the mechanism of nano powder materials on the corrosion resistance and aging resistance of the coating, and mastered the nano composite coating technology for aircraft protection in the coastal environment of high temperature, high humidity and strong sunlight.
After adopting the new technology of nano composite coating developed by metal, the aircraft repair shop has significantly improved the corrosion resistance and overhaul quality of the aircraft. Among the two aircraft using this technology, two have been in use for 4 years and 4 months after major repairs, and the other has been in use for 2 years and 1 month after major repairs. At present, the overall condition of the anti-corrosion coatings on the surfaces of these three aircraft is good, with no signs of aging or failure, which is significantly better than the protective effect of the body coatings before the major overhaul.
